Social Ride – Sunday 20th August 2023

Not too many Social rides start like this but due to brilliant planning this one included the opportunity to have a go on a bouncy castle, a musical accompaniment to the pre ride briefing and Action photo opportunity on route!

Applegreen Spalding being the start point the route took us around the edge of Bourne and headed out towards Stamford, Cutting of in Ryall passing over the A1 at great Casterton. Heading towards Rutland Water and then cutting off well before Oakham to get a quick Cuppa at the always busy “Two Flags” cafe, with a slight diversion & rethink due to road closure in North Luffenham.
Back on the bikes a little run on the A47, before turning off to go through through Kings Cliffe (a planned diversion this time due to Wansford bridge being closed), getting back on the original route at Elton.  All B roads, countryside & sunshine down to Kimbolton on the Best bit on the B660.
Passing Graffam water we stopped for a pause and a Pastie at Buckden services on the A! before making out way north again mostly on B roads with a bit of Dual carriageway included, skirting around Ferry meadows we took the Marholme road off the A47 and going via Helpston, found the Maccy’Ds on the A15 Glinton road where the run ended 🙂
Approx 120 miles, anyone wishing a”itn” (tom tom) file of the route just ask 🙂
